The residents of Martiros are engaged in horticulture (cereals and fodder) and animal husbandry. The community has around 540 heads of cattle.
The crops are highly dependent on climate fluctuations.
The agricultural machinery used in the community is obsolete.
Remoteness from the main markets is a serious constraint and barter transactions remain a common practice.
A minimum set of hospitality infrastructures needs to be installed in order to use the tourist potential of the sites.
Together with the lands of State Reserve, Martiros has 7,031 ha of lands of which only 774 ha are arable, 653 ha - pastures, and 72 ha are haylands.
