Koghb: Tavush

History

Koghb is the largest village within the region of Tavush. The first written history of the village, by Movses Khorenatsi and Pavstos Byuzand, is credited to 368 A.D. however, the village dates as far back as the 2-1st centuries. The village is rich with historic monuments. The historical sites in the village include Mshkavank, Tavaraeghtsi, Vardgyugh, Lomus, and many ruins of other churches and monasteries.
Three bridges connect two sides of the village, divided by a river. The village is located 800m above sea level. The fact that the village is located at this altitude, allows for the growth of grapes, peaches, apples, melons, and various vegetables such as cucumbers.

This is the regular train that serves the needs of the people of Armenia's Shirak region. It has not been replaced for more than forty years and still bears the (now rusty)symbols of the Soviet Empire. Convenience and comfort are two things one will not find here.
