Barekamavan: Tavush
History
 
Barekavan is situated on the border with Kyumarlu, Ghaymakhlu and Albayramlu villages of Azerbaijan. Villages former names were Krumslu, Dostlu. It was renamed in Barekamavan in 1978.
Barekamavan is very ancient village. The trade way from Babylon to Assyria passed through Barekamavan. The monument Surb Barzryal was elevated here in the V-VII centuries. There is a pagan temple preserved not far from the monument.

Economic Assessment
 
The area of the community is about 1,333 ha of which 876 are pastures, 484.4 ha arable lands and 64.5 ha forests. Barekamavan has 258 livestock of which 123 are milk cows, and 358 sheep, 190 pigs, 661 poultry, and 35 beehives. Local farmers cultivate pomegranate, fig and other fruits.
