| History |
| |
Refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh established the village of Aygehovit in 1803-1804, formerly named Uzuntala. The village settlers were successful in tobacco farming and viticulture. The village was the first to encounter crossfire in 1990-1994, and as a result, the infrastructure along with many homes and other buildings, were destroyed.
In the last few years, road building, water access as well as school construction projects have been undertaken.

| Irrigation |
Though some 50 hectares of lands are gravity irrigated, another 40 hectares are in need of an irrigation system. A new gravity system may be possible and it will be fed by the Aghstev River. Such a system will also provide irrigation to three nearby villages: Vazashen, Azatamut and Ditavan. In Aygehovit, too, the system will provide irrigation to 40 more hectares, the rest with pump irrigation. |

Farmers use the large allotments of arable lands inefficiently as a result of the non-existent irrigation system. Only 5% of the land is used to cultivate high value crops and the rest are used to grow grains or not used at all.
Development of an irrigation system and marketing channels for future crops are extremely important. The establishment of produce distribution links with major brandy and wine producers as well as the establishment of regional canneries will improve production capacity. The establishment of a sub-regional fruit and berry processing enterprise would serve 8-10 other villages in the Ijevan and Shamshadin sub-regions and create a hub for a fruit processing cluster that could be highly beneficial to the participant communities.
The village has 70 tractors and agricultural machines of different capacities, however a minimum set of new machinery should be provided to maximize efficiency.
Irrigation infrastructure will not only provide for increased cow-milk productivity (by 15-20%) but it will also minimize the impact of climate fluctuations on milk production, making the entire process more manageable.
