Today, the border villages face a multitude of problems and challenges - all of them contributing to the continued isolation and depopulation of these vitally important communities. All these problems are linked - one causes the other in an unfortunate domino effect. Thus, the small land plots that provide only for sustenance farming and the poor condition of infrastructure cause the lack of access to markets and unavailability of capital that in its own turn bar the communities from developing economies of scale thus hindering the normal development process.
To turn the tidal wave and tackle these issues the Armenia Fund Rural Development Program has undertaken the establishment of clusters, which will see five to six border villages grouped into one economic unit. This will allow us to minimize the expenses and maximize the short and long term impact on the region by creating mini intertwined systems. Thes systems will work towards not only re establishing the severed links with the outside world but also act as a proactive inter communal cooperation mechanism.
In building a better future for border villages there is no such thing as a small donation - every penny can help change someone's life. Be a part of the change - make your donation today!
This is the regular train that serves the needs of the people of Armenia's Shirak region. It has not been replaced for more than forty years and still bears the (now rusty)symbols of the Soviet Empire. Convenience and comfort are two things one will not find here.
