Background Information : The community is supplied with drinking water from captations in the higher parts of the village, as well as springs located in the lower areas of the community. The water from the captations is redirected via 100mm diameter pipes to two water reservoirs by gravity flow. Each reservoir has a capacity of 50 m 3. Inter-communal water distribution network is then used to supply the community with water. Technical details : The inter-communal water distribution network (pipe diameter=80-32mm) passes through the main street of the village and is equipped with faucets from which the community members get the water. The water reservoirs are in unsatisfactory sanitary conditions and the population is not able to use the water from the faucets for drinking purposes. The water reservoirs are beyond repair. The captations were built in the early 70s and need repair. The 900 line meter water distribution pipeline has been renovated using the community resources but because of being built very close to the surface is subject to freezing during wintertime. Primary renovations : Improving and upgrading the existing water distribution network will include the several components such as the restoration of the existing captations, building a new 100 m 3 water reservoir. Sanitary : Installation of water disinfection and sanitary control station are required. The initiative should also include the establishment of sanitary belts around the water carrier structures, remodeling the 900 line meter water distribution pipeline and the creation of an internal water distribution network (pipe diameter=50-25mm). Background Information: The community is supplied with drinking water from a spring inside the village. The water from the spring then enters a pipeline (diameter=100mm) and is carried by gravity flow to supply the lower parts of the village. The community members gather water via faucets, which are basically holes opened in the pipe. The water flows from the spring at the capacity of 1 liter per second. The spring has a closed capitation and about 70m from the captation there is a small water reservoir. It is in a relatively good condition and needs only superficial repair and guaranteeing that all the adequate sanitary norms are kept. In the past, there was a pumping station next to the reservoir. It supplied water to the upper neighborhoods of the community. Currently, the village has no internal water supply network. Solution: During preliminary research, The Armenia Fund experts found out that there are a number of usable springs around 800 m from the village. The combined capacity of the springs is 2 liters per second. To improve and modernize the water supply network three more captations need to be installed on the springs outside the village. The water supply improvement initiative will also require the building of a 100m 3 water reservoir; addition of water disinfection and sanitary norms control station; creation of a sanitary belt around all the water carrying structures; installation of a 2km pipeline (diameter=70-100mm) from the captations to the distribution hub; establishment of internal water supply network with 70-25 diameter pipes. The project will also include the rebuilding of the existing water reservoir. Background Information : The drinking water supply of the village comes from the main water distribution pipeline, also serving the needs of the communities of Metsavan, Mikhayelovka, Petrovka and Norashen. The government is planning to renovate the internal water distribution system of the village. Solution : For ensuring village water distribution a 100 m 3 reservoir should be constructed with a sanitary zone. The equal water distribution to the whole community can be provided by diversification of the internal water distribution network.
Solution : To upgrade and improve the existing condition of drinking water in the communities it is necessary to implement number initiatives. These will include the establishment of water disinfection and sanitary control station, the creation of a sanitary belt around the water carrier structures, the reconstruction of 100 line meter pipeline (pipe diameter 100mm). The project should also include the establishment of internal water distribution network as well as reconstruction and utilization of the existing water reservoir. Background Information : The community lacks drinking water distribution network and a new one needs to be established. The multi component initiative will include the building of a new captation on the nearby higher altitude springs and creation of 50 m 3 water reservoir. The project will also include the building of water disinfection and sanitary control station as well as establishment of sanitary belts around water carrier structures. A major component of the project will be the building of a 1km pipeline linking the village to the captation (pipe diameter=50mm).
Solution : There are a number of steps to be taken for the rehabilitation of the community’s drinking water system. These steps include the renovation of existing captation structure, construction of 75 m 3 reservoir. The project will also include the construction of a water disinfection and sanitary control station, establishment of a sanitary belt around the water carrying structures and the renovation of internal water distribution network.
