American elected officials appeal for support of Hayastan All Armenian Fund Telethon
“Fruitful Artsakh” is the theme of this year’s Armenia Fund Telethon. Proceeds from the event, to be held on November 23, will benefit the “Fruitful Artsakh” program, a far-reaching agricultural-development initiative that includes the drilling of deep-water wells, construction of drip-irrigation systems, and installation of solar panels throughout Artsakh.

As in previous years, several elected officials and celebrities have issued appeals in the run-up to the Telethon, urging the public to watch the event and make donations in support of the prosperity of Armenia and Artsakh. To date, American leaders who have posted online video appeals include Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and US Representatives Tulsi Gabbard and Adam Schiff.

In his message to fellow Angelenos, Mayor Eric Garcetti urges them to support the Telethon and adds, “Your help today will make a huge difference. Please give what you can this holiday season.” In her appeal for support, Representative Tulsi Gabbard mentions that since 1992, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has implemented thousands of projects and programs in Armenia and Artsakh. “With your help,” she states, “the first phase of the ‘Fruitful Artsakh’ project will irrigate 4,000 acres of land, benefiting 70 farmers and generating more than $12 million in land cultivation, food processing, and exports. Thank you for being a part of this incredible mission.” On his part, Representative Adam Schiff urges grassroots support by stating, “This year’s Telethon, ‘Fruitful Artsakh,’ will immensely benefit farmers in Artsakh. Let’s make a difference for our brothers and sisters in Artsakh by joining the efforts of Armenia Fund’s 20th Telethon.”

Armenia Fund’s international Thanksgiving Day Telethon is held annually in Los Angeles. The event is televised across the United States and webcast live.

Since its inception 25 years ago, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has implemented over 50,000 projects in Armenia and Artsakh, with a total value of more than $350 million, through the support of close to 700,000 donors. These projects include the construction or renovation of more than 605 kilometers of roads and highways; 580 kilometers of water pipelines, networks, and canals; 149 kilometers of gas pipelines and networks; 70 kilometers of power lines; 359 schools and kindergartens; 24 community centers; 500 houses and apartments; 75 hospitals and clinics; 58 cultural institutions and sports complexes; and 100 greenhouses; as well as 169 educational, cultural, and scientific initiatives.
