Rehabilitation Equipment for Children with Physical or Mental DisabilitiesChildren’s Home Orphanage of Gyumri is the only specialized center in Armenia, which shelters and provides care to children with physical and mental disabilities and under eight years of age. 125 children from throughout Armenia live at the orphanage. They receive special care by dozens of nurses, special educators, psychologists, neurologists and other employees. The daily routine of children includes swimming, games, educational and entertaining programs. However, most of the day the kids are getting rehabilitation courses.
On June 28, with sponsorship of HSBC Bank Armenia Hayastan All-Armenian Fund donated rebilitation equipment worth over 2.2 million drams to the orphanage. The special equipment include strollers, wheelchairs, adaptive chairs, bath products and other therapeutic and assistive devices.
“This is neither our first nor the last donation to the Children’s Home Orphanage. Over the past five years we have implemented a string of projects to make the treatment of the kids more effective”, said Vardan Partamyan, Projects and External Relations Coordinator of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund.
“The new devices will help us to work with each child in his own way. Our children have different disabilities and the new items will surely find their owners ”, said Anna Gevorgyan, the director of the orphanage.
This is the third joint initiative between the HSBC Bank and the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund aiming at creating favorable conditions for children in Armenia. In 2015, a robotics classroom at Vanadzor Physics Mathematics School was replenished with computer equipment and furniture, and in 2016 a sewing room was established at special school N 8 in Yerevan.
Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has been supporting the Children's Home Orphanage since 2012. The projects implemented in the orphanage include the complete renovation and refurnishing of the facility’s two buildings; the reconstruction and equipment of the outdoor playground; and the construction of an indoor therapy pool.
