Armenians in Syria Receive Financial Support from Hayastan All-Armenian FundOver years, Syria’s raging conflict has become one of the worst man-made disasters the world has seen since World War II. The entire country has become a torture-chamber. Despite alarming increases in civil war in Syria, thousands of Armenians still live there. Helping the thousands of crisis-afflicted Armenians has been one of the priorities of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund all these 5 years. Hayastan All-Armenian Fund regularly provides support to both Syrian-Armenian refugees in Armenia and Armenians living in Syria.
On June 20, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund's French affiliate donated 100,000 euros to Syrian-Armenians. The donation was transferred through the Catholicosate of Cilicia in the city of Antelias, Lebanon.
Since 2012, the Fund has donated 396 million drams to Syrian-Armenian refugees in Armenia and Armenians living in Syria. Most of the donations were provided by Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s affiliates located in France, Germany, US, Argentina, Brazil, Lebanon, Sweden, Holland. In Armenia a range of Syrian-Armenian-relief programs have been implemented, including payment for two refugee flights between Aleppo and Yerevan; covering tuitions of 120 students attending various colleges and universities in Armenia; payment for 39 heart surgeries, health care assistance to 19 refugee families. A number of aid programs have been implemented in Syria as well. Salaries for teachers of the Armenian schools in Aleppo have been compensated, as a result of which the schools continue functioning under disastrous conditions of war.
