Two more homeless Gyumri families receive apartmentsThe Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has donated apartments to two more homeless Gyumri families, the Gomktsyans and the Badoyans. The apartments were purchased for the beneficiaries with proceeds from two special telethons held jointly by Armenia Fund, Inc. and ARTN Shant TV. The donated homes are fully furnished and feature all modern amenities, including appliances.
Both Goharaik Gomktsyan and Anahit Badoyan are single mothers with physical disabilities. They have been raising their children without any assistance, for many years living in so-called temporary huts, or domiks, which lack the most basic of services and comforts.
“We share the joy of these families as they have at last been provided with proper housing,” said Ara Vardanyan, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s executive director. “We consider our Gyumri Housing Project just as important as any of our infrastructure-development programs.”
Today, thanks to the ongoing Gyumri Housing Project, 22 families live in comfortable, modern homes. The program has also received support from the German-Armenian community. In 2015, German-Armenian contributions made it possible to provide apartments to two homeless Gyumri families.
