Toronto Armenians sponsor two vital development projects in Ivanyan community
Two vitally important institutions, a kindergarten and a multifunctional community center, are being built in Ivanyan, a village in Artsakh’s Askeran Region, through the financial support of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s Toronto affiliate. Both projects are co-sponsored by the government of Artsakh.

The construction of the kindergarten is almost completed. Currently crews are installing doors and windows and decorating the interior spaces. In addition, the landscaping of the grounds will be performed as soon as the weather permits it. By the end of autumn this year, the campus will also be fully furnished and open its doors to the community’s close to 70 kindergarteners. Today 14 of them attend kindergarten in a converted classroom inside the community’s school. The newly built kindergarten is the tenth educational facility to be established in the homeland through the support of Toronto’s Armenian community.

As in previous years, Migirdic Migirdicyan, chairman of the fund’s Toronto affiliate, is visiting Artsakh for a first-hand look at the progress of current projects. He is also set to continue to address any issues or needs faced by schools that were established through the sponsorship of Toronto Armenians.

“We place great importance on the construction of schools and kindergartens in the homeland because it’s through these institutions that our future is shaped,” Migirdicyan says, adding that he already has a preferred name for Ivanyan’s new kindergarten.

Ivanyan’s community center is being built next to the kindergarten. Together, the two institutions will breathe new life into the village, which was devastated by the war. The community of almost 1,400 was
