Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s Pan-European Phoneathon raises 1.46 million eurosThe annual Pan-European Phoneathon of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, which took place from November 21 to 24, has raised 1.46 million euros in donations and pledges, representing a 4 percent increase over last year’s proceeds.
Headed by the fund’s French affiliate and held under the slogan “Together Let Us Build the Future of Armenia,” the Phoneathon mobilized the Armenian communities of France, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Greece.
During the four-day event, a total of 750 volunteers worked the phones, 12 hours a day, reaching more than 50,000 households, businesses, and organizations across Europe to request support for vital development projects in Armenia and Artsakh. The volunteers were stationed at call centers in four French cities, Paris, Lyon, Marseille, and Toulouse, provided by major event sponsor Orange Telecom.
Proceeds form the Phoneathon will be used for the expansion of agricultural initiatives in Armenia’s Tavush Region, construction of community centers in Artsakh, construction of the Vardenis-Martakert highway, and assistance to the Armenian community of Syria,
Bedros Terzian, chairman of the Fund’s French affiliate, expressed delight at the success of the Phoneathon and said that donations are still being received, bringing strong evidence that the dedication of donors and volunteers to the Armenian homeland remains unaffected by economic uncertainty in Europe.
In the run-up to its annual Thanksgiving-Day Telethon, on November 28, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund continues to hold fundraising events in various countries including the United States, Canada, Australia, Argentina, Lebanon, Armenia, and Artsakh. Additionally, in the past ten days, the fund’s Austrian affiliate has distributed over 700 email and print appeals to members of the local community. On November 28, the affiliate will hold an informative event at Vienna’s Armenian Community Center. As in previous years, donations made during the event will be used to assist families of deceased or disabled Artsakh-War veterans.
