Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s European Phoneathon also to help support Syrian-Armenians
The Executive Board of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has announced that ten percent of contributions made by Armenia and Artsakh donors through Telethon 2012 will be used to help address the urgent needs of the Syrian-Armenian community, which continues to suffer heavy losses as a result of violent civil unrest throughout Syria.

A similar pledge was announced by the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s French affiliate, which has stated that ten percent of proceeds from the upcoming Pan-European Phoneathon will be dedicated to the Armenian community of Syria.

In addition, the Armenia Fund U.S. Western Region has announced that ten percent of contributions made by local donors through Telethon 2012 will be used to provide urgent relief to Syrian-Armenians who have taken refuge in Armenia.

The only exceptions to the ten-percent allocation plan will apply to contributions that are made toward donor-specified projects.

Telethon 2012 will be broadcast live from Los Angeles on Thanksgiving Day, November 22. The Pan-European Phoneathon, based in France, will be held from November 15 through 18. Both fundraising events will be devoted to supporting the development of community life throughout the villages of Armenia and Artsakh.

The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s efforts to assist the Syrian-Armenian community were launched in August of this year, when, at the suggestion of Serzh Sargsyan, President of Armenia and President of the fund’s Board of Trustees, the organization established special bank accounts to accept donations from the worldwide Armenian community for Syrian-Armenian relief.
