Hayastan All-Armenian Fund rewards outstanding Yerevan Conservatory students
Scholarship sponsored by Hrair and Martha Albarian of ArgentinaOn March 1 the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund awarded vocalist Arsen Stepanyan, a student at the Yerevan State Conservatory, with the Hrair and Martha Albarian Scholarship.
Sponsored by Argentinean-Armenian benefactors Mr. and Mrs. Hrair and Martha Albarian for the purpose of encouraging extraordinary academic achievement, the annual scholarship comprises a monetary prize equivalent to U.S. $500 and a Certificate of Achievement.
The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has awarded the Hrair and Martha Albarian Scholarship since 2009. That year the scholarship was won by violinist Mary Khojayan. Saxophonist Davit Melkonyan and violinist Anna Margaryan won the award in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
Arsen Stepanyan is a fourth-year student at the Conservatory’s Vocal-Theory department. He is the Gold Medal winner of the 2010 Delphian Competition in the Academic Song category, and second-place winner of the 2011 Republican Competition.
“The monetary prize included in the Hrair and Martha Albarian Scholarship will help me participate in the Magamaev International Song Competition, which will take place in Moscow this month,” Stepanyan said as he discussed his future plans. “I also hope to win the President’s Youth Prize,” he added.
