Phoneathon held in Argentina on November 11 and 12
Pan-European Phoneathon to take place in Paris from November 18 through 21In the run-up to Telethon 2010, which will be broadcast on November 25 from Los Angeles, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s Argentinean affiliate organized its own major fundraising event, a community-wide Phoneathon that was held on November 11 and 12 in Buenos Aires.
Volunteers of the event, mostly students from local Armenian schools, placed calls to Armenian households across Argentina, requesting donations in support of projects implemented by the fund in Armenia and Artsakh.
Contributing to the impact of the Phoneathon were a number of impassioned appeals made by Vladimir Karmirshalyan, ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Argentina; Jorge Murekian, chairman of the fund’s Buenos Aires affiliate; as well as clergymen and prominent members of the Armenian community.
Affiliate representatives said that while the Phoneathon has officially ended, donations will continue to be accepted up till the Telethon, at the conclusion of which the total amount of funds raised by the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund throughout 2010 will be announced.
The fund’s Argentinean affiliate comprises the Buenos Aires headquarters as well as a branch in Cordoba, established in September of this year.
