Greek affiliate leadership meets with local community representatives in preparation for fundraising campaigns
First Greek-Armenian Phoneathon slated for November 7
On April 10 and 11 leaders of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s recently launched Greek affiliate held meetings with representatives of the local Armenian community, seeking to mobilize grassroots support for upcoming fundraising activities.

During the gatherings, which took place at the Der Zakarian Hall in Thessaloniki and the Armenian Center in Komotini, both in northern Greece, affiliate officials discussed current projects and objectives, and urged the community to rally behind the fund’s flagship initiative for 2010, the revitalization of Shushi.

Documentaries on the fund’s accomplishments, long-term goals, and ongoing projects, including those currently being implemented in Shushi, were screened at the meetings. Gagik Ghalachyan, Armenia’s ambassador to Greece, attended both events and spoke in strong support of the fund’s work. As he mentioned many of the organization’s far-reaching infrastructure and civic projects, Ambassador Ghalachyan emphasized the importance of the worldwide Armenian community’s active participation in the ongoing development of the homeland.

On his part, Vatche Der Garabedian, chairman of the fund’s Greek affiliate, urged the community to help ensure the optimal success of the upcoming fundraising campaigns, including, notably, the first-ever Greek-Armenian Phoneathon, planned to be held on November 7.

Both meetings comprised question-and-answer and general-discussion sessions, during which attendees were further familiarized with the work of the fund and made suggestions regarding the upcoming fundraising activities.

The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s Greek affiliate was established in October 2009, becoming the organization’s 17th affiliate.
