The names of the recipients were announced during an academic conference held at the university on February 12. The scholarships will be disbursed in the form of tuition refunds.
The project was initiated and is being sponsored by the Armenia Fund, Inc., which is also entrusted with the final selection of scholarship recipients, based on a list of candidates submitted by the State Agrarian University.
Gurgen Pilosyan, Yura Mkrtchyan, Mush Aveyan, Arus Daghbashyan, Davit Arakelyan, Hrachya Hakobyan, and Khachatur Barseghyan will each receive scholarships for one semester; Arpine Movsisyan and Naira Hovakimyan were awarded scholarships for two semesters; and one student, Mane Atoyan, received a full scholarship, good for four years of study.
“The support of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund is invaluable to me because my family lives in Tavush and I moved to Yerevan some months ago to continue my education,” said Atoyan, a first-year student at the university’s Department of Economics. “I will do my very best to justify the fund’s confidence in me.”
In her remarks during the conference, Arshaluys Tarverdyan, principal of the State Agrarian University, expressed high praise for the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s longtime support of the school. She added that next year will see the establishment of a satellite campus in Shushi, a development which will certainly contribute to the repopulation of the historic city, she said.
Commenting on the assistance of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, Aida Khachikyan, Social and Humanitarian Projects advisor to the fund’s director, said, “We will continue to build on the tradition of supporting the State Agrarian University.” Khachikyan also informed the attendees that the fund plans to grant an additional four-year scholarship to a student at the university.
