Hayastan All Armenian Fund is pleased to announce the completion of the renovation of the B block roof (665 sq.m) of the Yerevan Nork Infectious Diseases Hospital.

Hayastan All Armenian Fund is pleased to announce the completion of the renovation of the B block roof (665 sq.m) of the Yerevan Nork Infectious Diseases Hospital. This was the last project (around AMD141million) in a series of several others implemented through 2005-2008 with sponsorship of Hayastan Fund Brazilian affiliate. The overall project included renovation of the intensive care and infectious diseases units located on the first and second floors, reconstruction of a boiler house for the resuscitation unit (jointly with UNDP), renovation of the two floors and roof, as well as construction of a boiler-house to support heating in B block, and reconstruction of the A block roof.
Ara Asoyan, the Nork Hospital director thanked the Hayastan Fund and benefactors from Brazil for the much-needed support and commented: “The roof was in dire need of repair and caused serious problems during rain and snow. I am pleased to say that improved conditions in the upgraded units make it possible for the staff to provide efficient medical care, as well as maintain proper hygiene - so important a factor for infectious diseases’ hospitals. The overall renovation works enabled treatment of some 4700 patients in improved conditions in 2007. To this, Tigran Nazaryan, head of the sixth unit added “We have been heating the wards since November 1. The patients are please with the current conditions and the medical stuff is in a better position to demonstrate its professional skills.”
The Nork infectious Diseases’ Hospital was established in 1956. Since then it has been providing diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases to patients from all over Armenia.
“High quality healthcare is of crucial importance to our population and among the Hayastan Fund priorities. I am happy to inform that that during the next month, with the overall furnishing over, we will also announce completion of the Nagorno Karabakh Hadrut regional hospital”, said the Acting Executive Director of the Hayastan Fund Ara Vardanyan.
