Reconstruction of Vardenis-Martakert highway going full speed ahead
Posted on July 18, 2016
Since mid-spring, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has resumed work on the reconstruction of the Vardenis-Martakert Highway, which connects Armenia and Artsakh. Currently asphalting and installation of improvements such as crash barriers, traffic signs, and road-surface markers are being performed throughout the length of the route. To date, 74 of the highway’s 116 kilometers have been paved (60 kilometers with two layers of asphalt and 14 kilometers with a single layer), and work has been completed on 22.1 kilometers of road, including all improvements and surface markings.

Also within the framework of the project, a 3.9-kilometer road that connects the highway and the village of Chapar has been rebuilt and paved, and currently a 1.1-kilometer connector between the highway and Dadivank is being reconstructed.
