Headed by the fund’s affiliate in France and with the participation of its affiliates in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Greece, the large-scale campaign mobilized the Armenian communities of these countries. In the course of the four-day event, around 700 volunteers called some 46,000 households, businesses, and organizations to request their support for pan-national development and relief projects.
Proceeds from the Phoneathon will be used to rebuild Artsakh communities that have sustained heavy damage as a result of the four-day war this year, provide assistance to war-affected Syrian-Armenians and Iraqi-Armenians, and support the continued growth of agricultural-development projects currently being carried out in 15 communities across Armenia’s Tavush Region. Donations from the Greek-Armenian community will be allocated to the next phase of the construction of a kindergarten in Karin Tak, a village in Artsakh’s Shushi Region.
Three more fundraising events will round out the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s 2016 campaigns. They include the organization’s flagship annual campaign, the Thanksgiving Day Telethon, which will be held in Los Angeles on November 24 and broadcast worldwide; the phoneathon of the Brazilian affiliate, on November 26 and 27; and the Lebanese affiliate’s radiothon, on December 7.
