Getavan village is located in Martakert region of Artsakh. The village has 320 residents, mostly employed in agriculture and especially cattle breeding. Getavan was one of the villages liberated during the Artsakh Liberation War. The intense fighting basically demolished the village. After the end of the war, the village started to rebuild and today it is a developing small rural community. The population of Getavan is 318. Within the frames of Hayastan Fund project, a comprehensive solution was given to the drinking water issue for Getavan village. The project saw the construction of a well, to augment the amount of water reaching the village, construction of a water main, renovation of the daily regulation reservoir as well as the establishment of an internal distribution network with a separate collection reservoir for one of the more densely populated districts of the village. The municipality of Getavan has no separate building of its own and is located in the school building. Hayastan All Armenian Fund is building a new, multi-functional community center in Getavan village of Martakert region. The community center will be a two-story multifunctional building, which will include community administration offices, an events hall, a library, a computer lab and a health care point with a separate entrance. The building will also have a foyer, sanitary units as well as auxiliary facilities. The community center will be fully furnished and provided with computers. Heating and ventilation systems will also be installed. Community centers are of vital importance to the ongoing social and economic development of rural areas in Armenia and Artsakh. They help streamline public services, foster a more dynamic civic life, and, ultimately, provide residents with one more compelling reason to continue living and working in their hometowns. The construction of the Getavan community center will effectively tackle a number of long-standing issues for the village making the life of the residents of the community that much easier and more comfortable.
