The Center was built in 1992 with the contributions made through “Moskovskie Novosti” (“Moscow News”) newspaper. The Center consists of the main and the administration buildings. The main building is a three-storied facility which is connected to the administration building through a basement passage.
The Center’s gynecological department which is situated on the third floor, as well as some checkup rooms on the first floor have been renovated. The building had not had heating for the past several years. At present there is a new heating system with a boiler house installed.
This project initiated by Hayastan All Armenian Fund was implemented in two phases. The first phase included renovation of the third floor. The maternity department with its surgery compartment was located on the third floor. This was the section where major upgrading and renovation works had been carried out. The total area of the maternity department is 570 square meters. The area consist of 4 labor wards, 1 procedure ward, 1 preparation ward (where medical instruments are being sanitized and medical clothes and instruments are kept), 2 rooms for doctors and nurses, 2 operating rooms, 2 post-operating/intensive therapy rooms (out of which 1 room has 3 beds and the other room has 1 bed for patients with special needs), 2 storerooms, 1 pre-operating preparation room and 2 lavatories. More than 10 doctors, nurses and hospital attendants work in this area during one shift.
