Oshakan village is situated in Aragatsotn region. The total population of Aragatsotn is 138,600 people, 76% of which lives in villages. The population of Oshakan is around 5000. Distance from Yerevan is 30 km.
The building of Oshakan School named after Mesrop Mashtots was constructed in 1968. Currently, Oshakan village school has 570 students. The school consists of four blocks. The main block is a three storey building. The second block is one storey, where the gym and event hall are located. The third block is partially dilapidated and is not operated. The fourth block is designed for elementary classes, it is two storey building and it has a basement. In 2004-2005 the school building was renovated by state budget and now is in relatively good condition.
In 2012 within Hayastan All Armenian Fund’s initiative new doors and windows have been installed in the main block of the school. The fourth block of the school where the elementary school students have their classes has also undergone partial renovation: new doors and windows have been installed along with a heating network. Parallel to this, new boiler house equipment has been installed to optimize the heating efficiency.
Within Hayastan All Armenian Fund's new project the roof of Oshakan school's main block has been completely renovated.
