“I am not a local, but I love the Tavush Region. Our Ijevan is a very nice city,” says Stepan Kolyan, the foreman of the Ijevan kindergarten construction. “Ijevan will become more attractive when we complete the construction.” The nursery is being built through the financing of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund.

“This is the main entrance; a balcony is going to be built on the right side. There are only concretes, stones and other construction materials all around, but Stepan pictures to himself rooms, corridors and even an amphitheater. “It will be an open amphitheater, with no ceiling. Children will follow the performances from the top.”

For now, children are following the ongoing construction works, as they attend the current kindergarten, next to the construction site.

As a result of the examination, the Hayastan Fund’s specialists came to a conclusion that the dilapidated three-story building can no longer be operated and it is necessary to build a new one. Benefactors Ani and Raymond Hartoonian, Grisha Sookiasian and Sonik Artounian undertook sponsorship of the project.

“It is going to be a comfortable nursery with all modern amenities,” assures Mr. Stepan and gives instructions to the crews. “For us, building a kindergarten or school is very special. It is our future, future of our nation.”

There are both, young and old people among the construction crews. Also, volunteers from the neighboring houses offer help. One has a child attending the kindergarten, the other a grandchild. The whole district or even a city looks forward to the completion of the construction.

Almost every day, Mrs. Khanum comes here with her grandson Mark to learn about the ongoing works and if the workers need her help. “My grandson Mark says he will first go to the kindergarten, then to school and afterwards to army,” Khanum Ghazumyan, a proud grandmother announces.

The Ijevan kindergarten will open its doors towards little Mark and other children by December 2018. The pre-school is going to be the largest ever built by the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund.
