On March 15, Gilbert Momdjian, chairman of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s German affiliate, was awarded the prestigious Fridtjof Nansen Gold Medal, in recognition of his embodiment of the highest principles and ideals within the spheres of public life, politics, and humanitarian endeavor, as well as his efforts in helping bring about worldwide condemnation of the Armenian Genocide. The Fridtjof Nansen Gold Medal is bestowed on those whose work follows in the footsteps of renowned humanitarian and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Fridtjof Nansen.

The medal, along with a certificate, was presented to Momdjian by Felix Bakhchinyan, president of the Fridtjof Nansen Foundation of Armena, at a ceremony held in Yerevan.

Momdjian has served as chairman of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s German affiliate for over 20 years. In his acceptance speech at the award ceremony, he said, “Throughout my career and in all of my endeavors, I have been blessed to enjoy the support of my wife.”

The German affiliate of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund continues to play a key role in the ongoing development of the Armenian homeland. In the past four years alone, funds raised through the affiliate have made possible the reconstruction of the Gyumri Children’s Home, the Noyemberyan Hospital, and the school of Khashtarak Village, among others.
