2014 President’s Youth Prize classical-music competitions concluded

Classical-music competitions in the 2014 President’s Youth Prize Instrumental Performance and Vocals categories were held on March 20, 24, 26, and 30, at Yerevan’s Komitas Chamber Music Hall.

Four instrumentalists and eight vocalists have been selected as finalists from a pool of seven instrumentalists and 16 vocalists. The winners will be announced on May 26, during an awards ceremony at the RA Presidential Palace.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the inception of the President’s Youth Prize Instrumental Performance and Vocals categories. To date, a total of 222 musicians, comprising 148 vocalists and 74 instrumentalists, have competed in the two categories. Twenty eight of them (14 vocalists and 14 instrumentalists) have won the prize, which includes a certificate, a medal, and a monetary award equivalent to $2,500.

The President’s Prize is sponsored by the Boghossian Foundation and administered by the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund.
